Dead Pixels?
Dead pixels on a LCD screen can be a sometimes
extremely frustrating thing to deal with on a daily basis. LCD
screen pixels can fail in 2 distinct ways.
On occasion a pixel can simply get stuck, this will usually result
in at least 1 pixel on the screen staying lit a specific color,
green or red for example. The second type of failure is when
the pixel burns out. This usually results in the pixel staying
black or white, though not all black or white dots will mean failure
they can be stuck as well.
Q: "Can a dead pixel be fixed?"
A: Yes and no. Before you attempt any
type of fix on your screen, you should first attempt to contact the
LCD manufacturer and inquire about their replacement policy
regarding dead pixels. There is no industry standard on warranty
policies regarding dead pixels, and as such each manufacturer will
vary on the number of pixels, or percent of the screen needed to be
damaged to qualify for a replacement.
Should you be out of warranty, or find your issue to not be covered
by the manufacturer, there are a few methods you can attempt to
revive a dead or stuck pixel.
(PC-T Services holds no liability for any
damage you cause to your screen should you attempt any of these
procedures.)
